Day Two…Knit a Year

Choices…that’s what it’s all about. So for Day Two, I chose the sublime – Lisa Souza’s (lisaknit.com) handspun cashmere/ merino. This yarn is some of the finest I’ve ever knit. Slightly uneven – the hallmark of a fine handspun – but with a beautiful strength and glorious depth of color. The color itself? A rich variety of earthen greens named Gone Fishing. I chose it for Bill, of course.

I like how the yarn sits proudly next to the camel.

The photos don’t do the yarn justice, but I’ve been experimenting with my iPhone camera. Fun stuff.

And tomorrow, the winner will be…

  1. So next year, at this time, you will have a very interesting fringed calendar, scarf kind of a thing! Swatches and a wearable something er other, eh? It is certainly a good way to keep your fingers knitting, even if you don’t feel like it. Now you have to have 365 yarns! Kind of weird but kind of cool, all at the same time. :o ) What if you travel? Can you bum some yarn off of someone, like people used to do when they smoked? I can’t wait to see how this turns out, Vicki.

Lisa – If I travel, I’ll buy or borrow some yarn from the locale. More fun that way, don’t you think? I like the idea of bumming yarn. Sure. What a hoot. Hope I can sustain the crazy thing! I’ve got a lovely stash of Lisa yarns that I plan to include. Remember how we met? Flying Fish!

  2. I’m interested in trying this. Sounds way more creative than just writing flat out what you’re feeling in a diary. My only logical use for the end result would be to wrap it around a tree. Yes, I’ve knitted tree sweaters and opened my eyes to the world of weird knitting ;)

If you look at Day One, you can see how to join. I love yarn bombing and all sorts of yarnie things, as well as making beautiful clothes with my knitting. Depending on how it turns out, I might just hang it on the wall…horizontally. Be kinda cool. Thanks for writing.

  3. I think it’s awesome. I would like to do it as well. Just don’t know if I’d follow through (timewise). I thought it would make a good wall hanging. Someone said they were going to make a blanket. That wouldn’t be bad either.
