Keep the Fleece…

Keep the FleeceI’m a big fan of Linda Cortright and her Wild Fibers magazine. But Linda wears many more hats than “mag publisher.” One of those hats – most likely a top hat – is helming the Keep the Fleece project.

On the one hand, KtF is all about knitting the world’s longest scarf in order to raise $250,000 for Heifer Internatioal, one of the most marvelous aid programs in the world. But KtF is much more than that.

2009 is the United Nations International Year of Natural Fibers. From the cashmere goat herder in Mongolia to the Navajo shepherd in Arizona to the Alpaca farmer in Peru, the year’s mission is to highlight and support and spotlight the amazing natural fibers we use each day.

KtF is also a cool competition for fiber artisans, a place of learning, and, most especially, a community of people who love and care about the world and her fabulous natural fibers.Find more about Keep the Fleece.
